They will be wider than the rails, say by 50mm per side - so 100mm total.
Thus the footprint is 582x582. Let's call it 600mm/side for roundness.
So the TV base is two footprints side by side. 1200 wide by 600 deep.
Now, widescreen TVs are typically 16:9, whilst widescreen monitors are 16:10.
This means for our 1200wide footprint, we will need a height of 675 or 750. (of course, the TV/monitor edging which often incorporates speakers will affect the proportions of an actual product. Similarly, there is no reason we are restricted to exactly 1200 width.
