These are nearly the ultimate hot snack food. You can think of them as a kind of proto-Pizza
They're toasted/grilled/broiled open sandwhiches arranged like:
Salt and LemonPepper Cheese Shaved Ham Onion Tomato Bread, lightly pre-toasted
Grill untill the cheese is lightly melted, and the Salt and Lemon Pepper has bonded to the cheese. The cheese should not brown.
Some alternative to the preperation
- Salt after the tomato layer, rather than the cheese layer
- Mustard on the bread layer, no lemon pepper
- No ham for vegetarians! Vegan cheese for vegans :)

Cheese on Toast
In addition to being the coolest snack ever...EVER DAMN IT! it was also a very very very cool retro night held at the much missed Toast night club in Canberra.
Bryan the bars owner would play just down right awful retro music videos and Jemist, Alistair and Pornstylus would play even worse CD's and vinyl.
Was best known for drunken dancing to 99 Red balloons and horrible pub rock
may that night rest in peace
