So why are they not more common?

  • Paranoia about debitcard wiping? (I know I'd love to have a wallet which self-closed with use of magnets.

Cool things to do with magnets?

  • Removable/variable Car hood ornament
  • wallet latch (in the futuuuure when only smartcards anyway :)
