D.D. Streetjam
Who
D.D. Streetjam was a performer in the Australian folk music scene in the early 90s.
What
His musical style is celtic. Predominantly styled after jigs and reels, but with some progressive/newage elements to the sound too (notably atmospheric spacey sounds)
The instrument was, as far as recalled, an electric (or at least, amplified) lute - or similar small stringed instrument.
When
I (nemo) bought a tape from him, busking in Canberra circa 1992. The track listing is:
- Side A
- Offze
- Toppov
- Ze Head
- Jupiter 4 Reverse Mode
- Side B
- Toppov Mk II
- Swallows Tail / Knotted Cord
- McKinnons Lament / McKinnons Jig
- First Offering (slightly nicked)
- Jupiter 4 Reverse Mode
A friend also saw him at the Maleny folk festival (now Woodford Folk Festival) in 1993/94.
Why
The music is great and I'm curious to find out more, if I can. Hence, this page.
The Cassette tape is "© Vince Clark". However this is a particularly unhelpful name to google for with regards to music since it's shared with a founding member of Depeche Mode!
