Premise

  • People make cabinets to hold their entertainment system.
  • People make cabinets to hold their computer equipment.
  • People make standardised-sized racks to hold their computer equipment.
  • Computer equipment is becoming more an entertainment system every day.

Conclusion?

  • Use a designed-for-computer RackCabinet as an entertainment system cabinet.

Basic Layout

  • Cabinet with a square footprint with rails spaced for 19" rackunits along all faces.
    • ie, cabinets are not designed with an explicit 'front'
  • Two cabinets roughly 150cm high for speakers and storage
  • Two cabinets roughly 60cm high to make a base for TV.
  • My preferred style: Metal cabinets, with wooden doors
  • For remote control access through doors, an IR-retransmitter may be required. Alternatively, bluetooth remotes
