Playtesting

2017 Sept 01

Players: Nerissa, Grog, Nemo

Played on a 9x9 grid, Nerissa won with 27, with Nemo (19) and Grog (18) (or was it Grog 19 and Nemo 18?). We had confusion regarding the application of the force cards, and did not use them at all. Instead we treated limit cards as having implied force when there were no other options for the player, and this worked quite well and should be considered. (ie: have more limit cards, and no force cards needed). The limits and tactics at the very end resulted in a king-maker situation, where Nerissa appeared to surrender a small set to Grog (who could not possibly win), and then in cooperation with Grog limited Nemo to the OTHER side of the board, which had both a large and a small set - making Grog a kingmaker between Nemo and Nerissa via the following: Nerissa surrendered the smallest set (on the side Nemo was limited to), and Grog did not claim it. Instead he surrendered the set on the side Nemo could not use - leaving Nemo to claim the small set, and surrender the last, larger unclaimed portion on that side. Nerissa was then able to claim both her original surrender set, and the large final set to win.
